Ngā Taura Tūhono - Stop Smoking Service

Welcome to our Regional Stop Smoking Service

Ngā Taura Tūhono Stop Smoking Service has combined the strengths of existing stop smoking services in our region; we are working together to support our community to become smokefree.

We know that people have many reasons for making a quit attempt, maybe for their children, for their health or so that they can have some more money in their pocket.

We know that regardless of motivation to quit it can be really hard, and that having face to face support improves the chance of quitting and staying quit.

Our team of Wellbeing/Whānau Practitioners know that when individuals and families start the journey to being smokefree, they are starting the journey of transforming themselves and their future and we are here to walk that journey with you.

We have a range of options available to provide support, including clinics in a range of places, and we can come to your home or workplace.

Please contact us of 0800 288 249 or pop in to see our team at one of our clinic sites;

The Quit Clinic - 49 Ingestre St Whanganui
Te Oranganui - 57 Campbell St Whanganui
Marton - Rangitikei Health Centre
Taihape Health

If you are a workplace, and want  to  have regular support  for staff we would love to come to you.

Our other services

We can also provide you with information about prescription-only quit smoking medications, such as Champix and Zyban.  If you are interested in using one of these medications, then we can refer you to your GP to discuss whether this would be a suitable option for you. For many people who are registered with a GP these appointments are free. Please contact your local medical centre to see if you qualify. If your GP prescribes one of these medications for you, then you are still welcome to come and see one of our Wellbeing Practitioners for additional support.
