Contained within the district is the captivating Ruapehu Mountain which is home to both the Turoa and Whakapapa ski fields, the western half of the Tongariro National Park and is home to the world-famous Raurimu Spiral on the North Island Main Trunk railway line.

With unlimited opportunities on offer, this region is the perfect location for anyone wanting to live and work in a quiet rural setting. Visiting the city is just a short three-hour drive south to our capital city, Wellington, and two hours east to our nearest university city, Palmerston North, three hours to New Plymouth and four hours to Hawkes Bay. Auckland is a one-hour flight north from Whanganui with flights in and out daily.

About Ruapehu Health

A range of health services are provided 'closer to home' to improve the health and wellbeing of people experiencing inequality such as Māori, Pasifika and people living within low socio-economic circumstances and who live over 1 hour from hospital services.

 

RHL support the vision of the Primary Health Care strategy which is:

 

  • People will be part of the local primary health care services that improve their health, keep them well, are easy to get to and co-ordinate their ongoing care

  • Primary health care services will focus on better health for a population and actively work to reduce health inequalities between different groups.

 

This will be achieved through:

  • A population health approach, with greater focus on health promotion and the prevention and management of chronic long-term conditions.

  • Involving local communities and iwi.

  • Utilising a multi-disciplinary approach to health care

About the role

We are looking for a General Practitioner (GP) who is an appropriately qualified and registered medical professional with the knowledge and skills to provide personal, family, and community orientated comprehensive primary care medical services to individuals.

 

As part of the general practice team, you will be responsible for providing patient-centered, interdisciplinary and culturally appropriate, and individual holistic care to a defined population as part of the general practice team.

 

The role also includes development and provision of quality review and systems which align with the RHL quality systems and overview, supported by the RHL Clinical Director and RHL Practice Clinical Lead.

 

The GP works closely with the interdisciplinary team to provide clinical guidance, assistance education and support.

 

Patients should feel that they have been dealt with in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
